Publication Ethics & Malpractice Statement

ARCENG (International Journal of Architecture and Engineering) is a peer-reviewed, non-profit, international academic journal committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and to preventing any form of publication malpractice. The publication process is based on the impartial production, development, and dissemination of knowledge through peer-reviewed articles, ensuring the application of scientific methods and ethical integrity. Accordingly, the journal implements a double-blind peer review system.

All parties involved in the publication process, including the publisher, editors, authors, reviewers, and readers, are expected to adhere to the highest standards of ethical behavior in accordance with the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Editorial Responsibilities

  • The Editorial Board is responsible for deciding which submitted manuscripts will be published based on their scientific merit, originality, and relevance to the journal’s scope, without discrimination of race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy of the authors.

  • The Editorial Board implements and maintains publication policies and ensures that the review process is conducted fairly and objectively.

  • Editors ensure confidentiality of all submitted manuscripts, protecting authors’ and reviewers’ identities as part of the double-blind review process.

  • Editors must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, and publisher as appropriate.

  • Editors are responsible for identifying and preventing publication misconduct, including plagiarism and data fabrication. In cases where ethical misconduct is detected, the editors will initiate an objective investigation and report the findings to relevant institutions if necessary.

  • Editors may request raw data from authors to verify the validity of reported results.

Reviewer Responsibilities

  • Reviewers assist the editorial team in making publication decisions and help authors improve their manuscripts through objective and constructive feedback.

  • Reviewers must only accept to evaluate manuscripts within their expertise.

  • Reviews should be conducted objectively and confidentially. Personal criticism of authors is inappropriate.

  • Reviewers should disclose any potential conflict of interest and decline to review when such conflicts exist.

  • If reviewers suspect plagiarism or significant similarity with other works, they should inform the editor immediately.

  • Reviewers must respect the confidentiality of the peer review process and not use any information obtained for personal advantage.

Author Responsibilities

  • Authors must ensure that their work is original and has not been previously published or simultaneously submitted elsewhere.

  • Authors must appropriately cite the work of others and provide proper attribution to avoid plagiarism.

  • Authors are responsible for the accuracy of data and must be ready to provide raw data upon request.

  • Authors should clearly indicate any conflicts of interest and disclose funding sources that supported their research.

  • Research involving human or animal subjects must comply with relevant institutional, national, and international guidelines. Authors should include statements on ethical approval and informed consent where appropriate.

  • If authors discover significant errors in their published work, they must promptly notify the editor and cooperate in retraction or correction processes.

Publisher Responsibilities

  • The publisher is committed to ensuring that editorial decisions are independent and free from commercial influence.

  • The publisher works closely with the Editorial Board to maintain the integrity of the academic record and to uphold ethical standards.

Misconduct and Malpractice Policy

ARCENG does not tolerate any form of plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification, or unethical research practices. All allegations of misconduct will be investigated thoroughly. If misconduct is confirmed, appropriate corrective actions will be taken, which may include retraction of published articles, notification to affiliated institutions, and banning authors from future submissions.

Open Access and Licensing Policy

All articles published in ARCENG are freely available to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts without any financial, legal, or technical barriers, in accordance with the journal’s Open Access Policy. Articles are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0) license, allowing others to share and adapt the work for non-commercial purposes with appropriate citation.

Reporting Ethical Concerns

Any ethical concerns or inconsistencies with ARCENG’s Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement, whether during the review process, early view, or after publication, should be reported to the editorial office promptly.

Authors retain copyright and grant the journal first publication rights.
